# Hunter

> Give your own Hunter key so that the email columns of the CRM find and check emails.

Connect your own Hunter key so that the email columns of the CRM check that an email reaches its person before anyone
writes to it. Hunter also finds the emails that a website does not show. Each address is looked up one time. Troopy
never changes anything in Hunter.

## Before you begin

- Owners and admins connect, replace and disconnect a service.
- A Hunter plan. Hunter bills the lookups to your key.

## What Troopy does with Hunter

| Column of a list | What Hunter does |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Work email** | Checks a guess of the email of a person, and finds an email that the site does not show. |
| **Email check** | Checks whether each email reaches its person, and sets the status of the email. |

A published email, or an email that Hunter checked, fills the email of the record. Troopy keeps each answer for the
workspace, so it looks up an address one time. See [Keep lists of people and companies](/docs/crm).

## Connect Hunter

1. Open **Settings** > **Apps**, and select the tile of Hunter. Its card opens.
2. Select **Copy your key in Hunter**. The API page of Hunter shows your secret key.
3. Copy the key, and paste it into **Your Hunter API key**.
4. Select **Connect Hunter**. Troopy sends the key in a header, never in an address.

## Limits

A workspace makes 1,000 lookups a day at most.

## Replace or disconnect

- **Replace key** puts a new key in the place of the old one.
- **Disconnect** removes the key. The email columns then find only what the sites publish.
