# Choose AI plans and models

> Choose the plan and the model of the troop, the plans to try next, and a model for one teammate.

Your troop runs on the AI plans of your organization. You choose which plan comes first, its model and its effort, the
plans to try next, and a model for one teammate. This page tells how, in **Settings** > **AI** > **Models**.

## Before you begin

- Only owners and admins of the organization change the models and the plans. Other people read them.
- Connect at least one plan first. See [Connect your AI plan](/docs/ai-plan).

## What your troop runs on

Open **Settings** > **AI** > **Models**. The first card, **What your troop runs on**, has these rows:

| Row | What it does |
| -------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Model** | The model of the first plan. Teammates with no model of their own use it. |
| **Effort** | How hard the model thinks before it answers. More effort is slower, and uses more of the plan. |
| When the first plan runs out | The plans to try next, in order. |
| **Teammates on their own model** | The teammates that run on their own pick, and not on the model above. |

### Change the model

1. Select the **Model** row. The menu lists the models of each connected plan.
2. Pick a model. A model of another plan makes that plan the first one.

A ChatGPT plan shows its models after a teammate first runs on it. Until then, it runs on its default model.

A plan with an API key shows the chat models that its provider lists for the key. If you pick no model, Troopy picks
the newest strong model at the first run, and keeps it as the model of the plan. OpenRouter starts on its own router,
`openrouter/auto`.

Grok and GitHub Copilot run on the default model of their app. Their cards show no model to pick yet.

### Change the effort

1. Select the **Effort** row.
2. Pick an effort, or **The model's default**.

A model that takes no effort says **None for this model**.

## The plans to try next

When a plan is out of usage, teammates move to the next plan of the list until the first plan resets. Under the row
of the first plan:

1. Select **Add a plan to try next**, and pick a connected plan.
2. Use the arrows to change the order.
3. Remove a plan from the list with its button.

With no plan to try next, the card says that the work waits until the plan resets.

## The cards of the plans

Under the first card, each plan has a card with its sign-in, its usage and its own model and effort. The model and the
effort of a card hold for the teammates that run on that plan and pick no model.

- **Usage** shows the limits of the plan and how much of each is used, when the provider gives them. Select the refresh
  button to read them again.
- **Add a plan** opens the list of every plan that you can add.
- **Disconnect** removes a plan.

## A model for one teammate

1. Open **Settings** > **Troop**, and select the teammate.
2. On **Configuration**, pick its plan, its model and its effort.

The model of a teammate wins over the model of its plan. The effort of a plan goes only with the model of the plan.

## Limits of each teammate

The last part of the page is **Limits of each teammate**. For each teammate:

| Limit | What it holds |
| ------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Steps each time** | The rounds of one run. |
| **Times a day** | The runs of the teammate in one day. |
| **Spend each time** | The money of one run. It shows only for a plan that bills each use of a key. |

Each role starts with generous limits, so that routines run the troop by themselves. Owners and admins raise or lower
each limit up to a cap. See [Limits and defaults](/docs/limits).

## The pictures of articles

**Settings** > **AI** > **Images** sets how teammates make the pictures of articles: the image provider, its model,
art with no yes, and stock photos. See [Image providers](/docs/apps/image-providers).
