# Fix a teammate that is stuck > Find out why a teammate does not answer or a run failed, and fix the cause. A teammate can stop for a reason that a person can fix. Examples are an AI plan that is out of usage, a daily limit, a service that is not connected, and a question that waits. This page helps you find the reason and fix it. ## Start here 1. Open the page of the teammate. Its header says what it does now, or why it waits. 2. Look at its face. A glowing ember means that it needs you. Closed eyes mean that it is paused. 3. Open **Needs you**. A question or an approval of the teammate can hold its task. 4. Open the task, then its latest run. The run says how it ended. ## The teammate does not start | What you see | Why | What to do | | ------------------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | "Your troop's computer isn't ready yet. Finish setup first." | Setup did not finish. | Finish setup. See [Connect your AI plan](/docs/ai-plan). | | "Every AI plan you've connected is out of usage for now." | Each plan reached its limit. | Wait until a plan resets, or add another plan in **Settings** > **AI**. | | A teammate "has done 200 runs today, its daily limit." | It reached **Times a day**. | Wait until the next day (UTC), or raise the limit. See [Choose AI plans and models](/docs/models). | | "Paused: it starts nothing until you resume it" | A person paused it. | Select **Resume** and its name. See [Hire and manage teammates](/docs/teammates). | | A teammate needs a service, such as Stripe | The role reads a service that the workspace did not connect. | Connect it in **Settings** > **Apps**. | | The Engineer writes or reads code with Claude Code | No Claude plan is connected. | Add a Claude plan or an Anthropic API key in **Settings** > **AI**. | | A feature says its tools are off | An owner or admin switched them off. | See [Switch tools on and off](/docs/tools). | A teammate starts on a task only when the task is in **To do**. A task in the backlog waits until a person moves it. ## The run stopped | Message on the run | Why | What to do | | ----------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ | | "It ran out of rounds before finishing. Try a smaller ask." | The run reached **Steps each time**. | Split the work, or raise the limit. | | "It reached its spend cap for one run" | A plan that bills each use reached **Spend each time**. | Give a smaller ask, or raise the limit. | | "That took too long. Try again." | The round took too long. | Ask again. | | "The computer didn't answer. Try again in a moment." | The computer was busy or starting. | Ask again in a minute. | | "Your troop's computer stopped. Try again in a minute." | The computer stopped under the run. | Ask again in a minute. | | "The answer didn't come through." | The plan gave no answer. | Ask again. If it fails again, connect the plan again in **Settings** > **AI**. | | "Its task was canceled, so it stopped." | A person canceled the task. | Move the task to **To do** to start it again. | | "This conversation is full. Start a new one." | The conversation reached its size. | Start a new conversation with the teammate. | A round that the computer cut short starts again one time by itself. ## The plan signed out When a provider ends the sign-in of a plan, the card of the plan shows **Sign-in lapsed**. Teammates then move to the next plan of the list. To fix it, disconnect the plan, and connect it again. The task continues after the last answer. | | An approval | In **Needs you**. A denied call stops that call only. | | A login that it lacks | On the task. Add the login to the Vault. See [Keep logins and secrets in the Vault](/docs/vault). | | Work in **In review** | Read it, then mark it done or send it back. | While the task of a routine waits in **Needs you**, the routine does not run. ## The teammate works on the wrong thing - Read the brief of the task. A teammate does what the brief says. See [Give your troop work that it can finish](/docs/give-work). - Write a comment on the task, with what to change. The comment starts the teammate again. - To stop it at once, move the task out of **In progress**, or send "stop" in its chat. - When a fact of the brain is wrong, mark it **That's wrong**. See [Manage what your troop remembers](/docs/memory). ## Ask your Chief of Staff Open **Help and support** from the **?** menu, and select **Ask** your Chief of Staff. Say what you see.
