# Talk in the troop chat

> Use the one group chat of people and teammates: threads, mentions, reactions and the updates of teammates.

The troop chat is one group chat for the people and the teammates of a workspace. Each message starts a thread, and
the teammates that the message calls on answer in that thread. Teammates also post there what they finish.

## Open the troop chat

Select **Troop chat** under **Your troop** in the sidebar. The line under it shows the latest message.

Guests do not see the troop chat. Viewers and approvers read it, and do not write in it.

## Write to the troop

1. Type in the box at the bottom. It says **Write to the troop... @ calls on a teammate, / for a skill**.
2. Type @ and a name to call on a teammate. Type @all to call on every teammate.
3. Select **Send**, or press Enter.

Under the box, a line says who gets the message, for example "Goes to Atlas · @all calls on everyone".

### Who answers a message

| What the message names | Who answers |
| ----------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| One or more teammates, with @ | Each teammate that it names. |
| @all | Every teammate of the troop. |
| No teammate, in the room | The Chief of Staff. |
| No teammate, in a thread | The teammate that the last message of a person in the thread went to. |

In a workspace with 2 or more people, a message that names no teammate goes to the Chief of Staff first, as a quick
read. The Chief of Staff then answers, looks into it quietly, reacts, or leaves the message to the people. A quiet look
only reads, and posts only what it found. The box says: "Name no one and" the Chief of Staff "sees whether it's for
the troop."

## Threads

Each message is the start of a thread. Select **Reply in thread** under a message to open its thread in a column at
the right edge. The address of the page holds the open thread (`?thread=`). Select **Close the thread** to close it.

- Each teammate answers a thread in one run at a time. If you write again while it works, the teammate reads your new
  message in the same run.
- The work of a teammate in a thread lives on one task. The thread links to the task.
- A teammate that finishes a task posts the result in the thread of the task. A task with no thread posts in the room.

## Reactions

Point to a message and pick a reaction. A message takes one of 9 reactions. Teammates react too, for example to say
that they saw a message.

## Stop an answer

To stop a teammate while it answers, send a message that only says "stop" in the thread. The person who asked can stop
it, and so can owners and admins.

## What teammates bring in

When a teammate reads a connected service or searches the web in a thread, Troopy keeps what it found. It keeps the
latest 8 finds, for 6 hours. The next teammate that answers in the thread sees it as "Found earlier in this thread", if it
has the same tool and can read the same records. Troopy never keeps what a quiet look found.

## Limits

- A person sends at most 20 messages a minute to teammates, in all chats together.
- The quick reads of the Chief of Staff have caps for each hour and each day. Answers that nobody asked for do not
use the daily runs of a teammate.
