Product and code

Connect PostHog so that the Product analyst reads your product data, and Customers reads what users do.

Connect PostHog so that teammates read your events, trends and funnels, and ask questions in HogQL. Customers can also read what users do in your product from it. Troopy never changes anything in PostHog.

Before you begin

Owners and admins connect, replace and disconnect a service.

What Troopy reads, and for what

Product or teammateWhat it reads

Troopy uses the query endpoint of PostHog only. Your words go into a query as values, never as the text of the query.

Connect PostHog

  1. Open Settings > Apps, and select the tile of PostHog. Its card opens.
  2. Select Create the key in PostHog, or EU cloud for a project in the EU.
  3. PostHog opens with Query read ticked. Limit the key to the project that Troopy should read, and create it.
  4. Copy the key. It starts with phx_.
  5. Paste it into the card. If the key reaches more than one project, add the Project ID.
  6. Select Connect PostHog. Troopy finds the US cloud or the EU cloud by itself.

Replace or disconnect

  • Replace key puts a new key in the place of the old one.
  • Disconnect removes the key. The Product analyst can no longer read PostHog.
