Manage your troop

Hire a role, name a teammate, change its face and voice, set its limits, pause it or let it go.

Each teammate has a role, such as Content writer or Outreach. Your troop starts with a Chief of Staff, and you hire the other roles that your business needs. This page tells how to hire a teammate, change it, pause it, and let it go.

Before you begin

  • Owners and admins of the organization hire, rename, pause and fire teammates.
  • Each hire uses the AI plan of your organization. See Connect your AI plan.

  1. Open the hire page

Select Hire a teammate under Your troop in the sidebar.

  2. Pick a role

Suggested for you shows the roles that fit what you said about the business at setup. Each card says its job, what it is Good at, what it Can use, and what Needs your yes.

  3. Hire it

Select Hire the and the role, such as Hire the Researcher. The teammate joins the troop with a name from the theme of your troop, and its chat opens. A role that you have already shows Hire another.

Hire a custom role

  1. On the hire page, select Describe your own.
  2. In Describe the teammate you want, say its job in 20 characters or more.
  3. Select Draft the role. Your Chief of Staff drafts the role: its job, its tools and what needs your yes.
  4. Read the draft. Select Draft it again to change it, or Hire and its name to hire it.

A teammate that needs a service, such as Stripe or GitHub, says so on its card. Connect the service in Settings > Apps. A teammate that needs Stripe can start without its Stripe tools when the business takes payments at another provider.

Names

The theme of your troop names each teammate, and each name fits its job. The themes are such as Greek mythology, Norse legends, Space and Scientists, or job titles. Change the theme in Settings > Troop, under the rows of the teammates. The theme is the same in each workspace of the organization.

  • A new theme renames each teammate that still has the name of a theme or its job title.
  • A new theme never renames a teammate that a person named.
  • Only a person names a teammate. Rename it on its Identity tab.

Change a teammate

Open Settings > Troop and select the teammate. Or select Configure in the header of the teammate. The settings of a teammate are in 5 tabs:

TabWhat it holds
ConfigurationIts plan, model and effort, its routines, the sites that it may read, its standing rules, its tools and its pause.
NotesWhat the teammate keeps about its work.
PersonalityHow the teammate talks and works.
IdentityIts name, what it is, and its voice for calls.
AppearanceIts face: a plush bot or a robot head, its colour and its look.

The Notes, the Personality and the Identity are memory files of the teammate. A teammate drafts its own Identity and Personality from the Company file, and proposes changes later. A person approves each change. See Manage what your troop remembers.

Its model

A teammate runs on the default model of its plan, unless it has a model of its own. To give it one, pick the plan, the model and the effort on Configuration. See Choose AI plans and models.

Its voice

On Identity, pick one of the 10 voices for calls. Each voice has a button to listen to it first. A teammate with no voice set gets one from its id, so the teammates of a troop have different voices.

Pause a teammate

  1. On Configuration, or in the menu of the teammate, select Pause and the name of the teammate.
  2. Confirm. The teammate stops starting work: its routines, tasks from the board and new conversations.

What it is in the middle of finishes. A paused face shows closed eyes. To start it again, select Resume and its name.

Nudge a teammate

The menu of the teammate has Nudge. It starts the teammate on what waits for it in To do. When nothing waits, the menu says Nothing waits for it in To do.

Fire a teammate

  1. In the menu of the teammate, select Fire and the name of the teammate.
  2. Read the warning, then confirm.

The teammate leaves the troop for good, with its conversations, drafts, routines and run history. Its tasks stay on the board. The words that it wrote in the troop chat stay too. Its email address retires, and its triggers pause.

The face of a teammate

The face shows what the teammate does: it moves while it works, and a glowing ember shows while it needs you. A person turns the motion of every face off in Settings > Appearance, with Animated faces.
