Keep conversations with customers and experts as docs, import them, and find them again in search.

Interviews keeps what customers and experts told you, one page each. Your troop reads them too. Each interview is a doc with the properties of interviews. This page tells how to add, import and find interviews.

Before you begin

Interviews is a product. A person sees it only when it has the product. See Invite people and choose their roles.

Open Interviews

Open Interviews from Products. The page lists the interviews as a Table or as Tiles.

ControlWhat it does
Search interviewsFinds an interview by its words.
FilterShows the interviews with one option of a property, such as one type.
A column headerSorts the table by that property.
Table and TilesSwitches the view. A tile shows the first picture of the interview.
PropertiesOpens the properties of interviews, to add or change them.
ImportBrings in interviews from Notion or Google Docs.
New interviewMakes an empty interview.

The address holds the view, the search and the filters (?view=tiles).

The properties of an interview

Each interview starts with these properties:

PropertyWhat it holds
TypeThe kind of interview, from a list.
IntervieweeThe person that you talked to.
CompanyTheir company.
DateWhen you talked.
TagsTopics, from a list.

Add more properties, up to 30. People and the API set the values. A teammate never sets them. See Write and share docs for how properties work.

Add an interview

  1. Select New interview.
  2. Type the title, then the notes in the shared editor. The doc saves by itself.
  3. Set the properties under the title.

An interview has the History, comments, links and guest link of each doc.

Import interviews

  1. Select Import, then Notion or Google Docs.
  2. For Notion: pick the pages to bring in. Search the pages you shared finds them.
  3. For Google Docs: select Choose from Google Drive, and pick the docs in the picker of Google.
  4. Select Import interviews.

A page imports one time. The columns of a row of a Notion database become properties: those with the same name, or new ones. See Notion and Google Docs.

An owner or admin connects Notion first, in Settings > Apps.

Interviews and the troop

  • Brain search finds the interviews, and teammates read them.
  • Research can cite an interview. Troopy checks its quote against the words of the interview.
  • The public support bot never reads an interview.
  • The Docs library leaves interviews out. The address of an interview is under /interviews.
